The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kazama shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Lawyer defends it nicely.
Lawyer fails in his attempt to clinch.

Lawyer manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Kazama on his heels. He'll look to pass Kazama's guard now, I'm sure.
Kazama is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Kazama is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Kazama is looking for a kimura but Lawyer is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kazama to get the leverage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kazama is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Lawyer is just riding it out for now. Kazama eventually gives up the hold.

Kazama is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Lawyer sees it coming and defends easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
