Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ariel Piechocki!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Luis Engracia and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Piechocki feints and as Joan raises his hands in defense, Piechocki changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Piechocki is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Piechocki postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Piechocki tries to free his leg and advance position but Joan is retaining full guard.

Piechocki drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Piechocki jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Piechocki is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Piechocki seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Piechocki drives through with a takedown into Joan's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Piechocki thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Piechocki scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Joan to see if he's OK.

Piechocki decides to stand back up. Piechocki steps back and let's Joan get back to his feet.
Ariel Piechocki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Piechocki darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

It looks like Piechocki might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Joan wants to hold on but Piechocki pushes him away.

Joan takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Piechocki fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Joan prevents Piechocki from taking his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Piechocki manages to capitalize on a mistake by Joan to take his back!
Piechocki has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
