Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robin Watts and Ivan Ilich. Robin Watts had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Konstantin Menshow and Valeri Chadov.



The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ilich closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Watts did well to prevent Ilich getting side control.
Ilich wants to pass to mount but Watts is defending the position.

Ilich is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Watts doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ilich.

Ilich is looking for a sweep. Watts is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Ilich walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Watts checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Ilich misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Watts moves out of range of the body kick from Ilich.
A big left from Ilich misses.
Ilich throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Watts tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Watts shoots for a takedown but Ilich saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Watts bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Watts throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Watts is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Ilich will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Watts will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Watts in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Watts enables Ilich to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Watts manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Ilich throws a big elbow that misses.
Ilich tries to free his leg and advance position but Watts is retaining full guard.
Watts is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Watts is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Watts seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Watts is taking a breather. Ilich says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Ilich makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Robin Watts is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Watts gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Ilich to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Ilich stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Watts swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ilich throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Watts works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Ilich is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Watts is pulling down on Ilich's head. It's preventing any offense from Ilich, at least for the moment.
Ilich wants to control from the top but Watts keeps moving.

Ilich lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Ilich passes into half guard.
Watts is holding on to half guard well.
Watts regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Ilich.
Watts looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ilich is one step ahead there.
Ilich with a flurry of punches that miss.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Watts keeping moving, preventing Ilich from controlling successfully.
Ilich looking to sit in guard and control but Watts gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ilich is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Watts throws a quick counter kick to the body but Ilich avoids it.
Ilich has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Ilich scores with a takedown into Watts's guard.
Ilich must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Ilich is breathing heavily.
Ilich is in close to Watts's body, working some short punches and elbows.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Watts manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ilich manages to get himself to full guard.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Robin Watts's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
