The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maknamera misses with a head kick.
Hawkins tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Maknamera manages to circle out of the way.
Maknamera lands a head kick. Hawkins smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Hawkins shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hawkins showed some decent athleticism there.

Hawkins has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hawkins seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Maknamera for as long as he can get away with.

Barry Hawkins spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
