The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gautier goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
It looks like Keith Thornton has been cut.
Thornton closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Gautier manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Thornton keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Thornton is trying to drag Gautier to the mat but Gautier just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Gautier fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Thornton looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Gautier creates some distance for himself and unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Thornton's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Thornton drops to his knees and Gautier pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

A relieved looking Pierre Gautier thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
