Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Shea Ohmsford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edward Wates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Shea Ohmsford!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Edward Wates!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Andrew Berry and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ohmsford shoots and misses

and Wates counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Ohmsford fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Wates is pressed up against the cage. Ohmsford has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Wates down to the mat. Wates avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shea Ohmsford. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Wates scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Ohmsford is looking to get back to is feet but Wates passes into side control.
Ohmsford definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Ohmsford tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Wates wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

You can see the frustration on Ohmsford's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Wates is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ohmsford has escaped the position, nice work there.
Ohmsford prevents Wates from improving position.
Wates wants to control but Ohmsford is keeping him busy.
Wates moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Ohmsford is looking for a sweep.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Wates controlling the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Edward Wates seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ohmsford slaps away a takedown attempt from Wates, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Wates shoots in looking for a takedown. Ohmsford tries to sprawl out of it but Wates keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ohmsford manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Wates fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Wates tries to clinch but Ohmsford is having none of it.

Wates shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Ohmsford napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Ohmsford manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Ohmsford wants to control but Wates is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Ohmsford pushes Wates off but Wates dives into side control.

Wates has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Ohmsford shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Wates manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Wates kicks Ohmsford off and gets to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Wates has closed the distance and engaged Ohmsford in a clinch.

Wates pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Wates drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ohmsford sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Wates wants to stand up but Ohmsford is controlling the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Wates is looking to stall here but Ohmsford recovers full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Edward Wates dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Wates gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Ohmsford successfully pulls guard.

Ohmsford had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Wates defends it easily.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Wates working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ohmsford is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Wates defends well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wates decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ohmsford, up you get!
Ohmsford really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Wates throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Wates throws a combination. Ohmsford tries to block but a couple of punches get through.


It looks like Shea Ohmsford has been cut.

Wates drives through and clinches with Ohmsford against the cage.
Wates tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ohmsford smiles and moves away.
Ohmsford misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Ohmsford gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Wates kicks Ohmsford off and gets back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ohmsford takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Wates tries for a takedown but Ohmsford sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ohmsford tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Wates manages to circle out of the way.

Wates pushes Ohmsford up against the cage in a clinch.

Wates escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Ohmsford.

Wates darts in and clinches Ohmsford up against the cage.

Wates breaks from the clinch.

Wates fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Ohmsford to the ground. Wates is now in Ohmsford's guard.
Wates not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Ohmsford has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Wates is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Ohmsford.
Ohmsford looking for a sweep but Wates has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Wates looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Wates tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wates putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!

Wates goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Ohmsford is on top in guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ohmsford preventing the sweep.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Edward Wates showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Wates tries to clinch up but Ohmsford circles away and keeps his distance.
Ohmsford tries to counter with a takedown but Wates is quick to defend against it.
Ohmsford stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Wates.

Wates darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Ohmsford is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ohmsford is trying to maintain the position but Wates is very close to passing his half guard.

Wates missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Edward Wates has got the better of the ground game so far.
Wates takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Ohmsford is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Wates pulls his head out easily.
Wates controlling the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Ohmsford stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Wates.
Wates misses with a body kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Ohmsford closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Wates can't do much from the bottom here.
Wates is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Wates has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Ohmsford works his foot free and advances to mount.
Wates is trying desperately to improve position.
Ohmsford looking to ground and pound but Wates is blocking nicely.

Wates tries to improve his position but instead Ohmsford has taken his back!
Ohmsford is not going to allow Wates to sit and survive in this position.

Wates is trying escape back to his feet. He turns into his opponent's guard and eventually finds his way back to his feet.
Wates takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Ohmsford wants to take the fight to the mat but Wates manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Wates escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wates tries to clinch but Ohmsford moves out of range.
It looked like Ohmsford was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Wates drives through with a takedown into Ohmsford's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Wates won't allow Ohmsford to sweep him here.
Wates trying to control the position from guard on top but Ohmsford is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Shea Ohmsford has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Edward Wates is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Wates stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ohmsford swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Edward Wates comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Wates has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
