PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tyson Tyco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hima Laya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Hima Laya was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tyson Tyco!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hima Laya!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Chris Saunders and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tyco closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Laya quickly recovers to half guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Tyco's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Tyco sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Laya defending well though.
Tyco looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Tyco looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Tyco trying to control the pace.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Laya can do anything to dispel that myth.
Laya has hold of Tyco's hands but Tyco slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Tyco throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Tyco lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Tyco working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Tyco bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Tyco controls the position from side control.
Laya gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Tyco lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Laya has left one of his arms exposed and Tyco doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Laya screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Tyson Tyco!
