Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sick Puppy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martin Riggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Riggs is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Hot Iron & The Lead Sled. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 19 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Sick Puppy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 38 - 25 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Martin Riggs!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Alec Ball and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Puppy with a nice cross.
Puppy throws a low kick but it's checked well by Riggs.

Puppy darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Puppy not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Riggs has hold of Puppy's hands but Puppy slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Puppy missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Puppy seems to be working for a kimura but Riggs defends the submission attempt.
Riggs holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Puppy not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Riggs is doing well to control the position and prevent Puppy from advancing to side control.
Puppy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Riggs is refusing to be controlled, as Puppy sits in half guard.

Riggs is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Puppy's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Puppy's back!

Riggs throws a solid leg kick but Puppy takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Riggs.

and Puppy connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Puppy tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Riggs swivels and escapes.

Martin Riggs is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Puppy tries to clinch but Riggs moves out of range.
Riggs on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Riggs jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Riggs fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Riggs drops his hands momentarily and Puppy takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Puppy lands with a shot to the body.
Riggs slips a straight right by Puppy.
Nice shot lands for Puppy.
Sick Puppy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Riggs lands with a nice body punch.
Riggs uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Puppy.
Puppy missing with a left hand there. Riggs was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Riggs replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Puppy blocks it well.

Puppy takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Riggs throws a sloppy head kick and Puppy moves out of range easily.

Puppy drives through with a takedown into Riggs's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Puppy throws a strike but Riggs rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Puppy wants to hit a switch here but Riggs passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Puppy there!
Puppy wants to hold on but Riggs pushes him away.
Riggs moves to the back position.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Puppy is in bad spot here.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

enabling Puppy to counter with a crisp jab.
Riggs will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Riggs keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

and Puppy counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Riggs avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Puppy is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Riggs can do to turn this around?

The fighters circle momentarily. Riggs darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Riggs is trying to break free.
Riggs swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Riggs struggles to land a body shot inside as Puppy controls his hands.
Riggs prevents a body shot from Puppy.
Puppy lands a right hand that snaps the head of Riggs backwards.
Puppy makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Riggs manages to break the clinch.

Riggs gets caught flat footed, as Puppy shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Riggs wants to sweep but no luck.

Puppy trying to control the position from guard on top but Riggs is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Puppy accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Riggs wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Puppy misses with a takedown attempt - Riggs sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Puppy dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Riggs. That did some damage!

This has been an exciting period of action!
Riggs walks into a stiff left hand from Puppy.
Riggs goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Puppy throws a hook but Riggs avoids it easily.
Puppy waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Riggs.

Puppy clinches up with Riggs and pushes him back against the cage.
Puppy misses with a short punch on the inside.
Riggs struggles to land a body shot inside as Puppy controls his hands.
Puppy lands with a short shot to the head.
Riggs digs a right hand into Puppy's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Puppy's gas tank.
Puppy misses with a hook to the ribs.
Puppy lands a shoulder strike.

Riggs breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A lazy left from Riggs finds it's target.
Riggs fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Puppy manages to avoid it.
Puppy misses with a right hand
and Puppy takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Riggs looks to land a right hand but Puppy moved out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sick Puppy dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Riggs lands with a nice body punch.
Riggs uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Puppy.
Riggs throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Puppy.
Puppy tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Riggs manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A solid leg kick lands there for Riggs.
Riggs is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Puppy.
Nice defenses there by Riggs.
Puppy keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Riggs.
Riggs takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Puppy, as that shot connected.

Puppy is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Riggs's half guard.
Puppy has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Puppy can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Riggs is looking to escape.

Puppy sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Puppy sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Riggs wants to get back to his feet.
Puppy trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Riggs is wriggling around trying to escape.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Puppy controlling from the full mount.
Riggs is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Puppy can't control as he wanted to and Riggs manages to get the fight back to his half guard.

Puppy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Riggs keeps working.
Puppy looks to land a strike but Riggs avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Puppy seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Riggs does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Well, if Puppy is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Sick Puppy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sick Puppy.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Puppy, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Sick Puppy rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
