The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bolas walks into a jab.
Bolas shoots for a takedown but Nilsson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Bolas throws a leg kick that is checked
and Bolas takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Bolas throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Nilsson sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Nilsson connects with a body shot.

Bolas shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Bolas was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Nilsson explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Bolas bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nilsson can't do much from the bottom here.
Nilsson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Bolas wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nilsson keeps working.
Nilsson is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Nilsson is looking to reverse the position.

Bolas wants to control but Nilsson is keeping him busy.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Nicol Bolas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nilsson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Nilsson wants it to stay on the feet.
Nilsson looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Bolas moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Bolas closes this distance looking for a takedown but Nilsson circles away.

Bolas trying to control but Nilsson is working from the bottom.
Bolas has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Bolas throws a big elbow that misses.
Bolas trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Nilsson manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Bolas wants to get back to his feet but Nilsson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Bolas looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Nilsson.
Nilsson fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Bolas to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Bolas looks to clinch but Nilsson throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Bolas taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
