The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Basquez doesn't manage to clinch there - Mamchenko circles away.

Joel Romero Basquez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mamchenko throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Basquez was covering up waiting for the punch and Mamchenko finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Basquez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mamchenko defends well.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mamchenko.

Basquez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Basquez lands in his opponent's guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Evgenii Mamchenko will probably get the nod.

Oh but Mamchenko is tightening it up a little... Basquez has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Basquez reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Basquez taps out! Nice BJJ there by Mamchenko!
