The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
derek fails in his attempt to clinch.
McIntosh changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. derek tries to avoid it but McIntosh manages to keep hold of a leg and drag derek to the ground. derek escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
derek drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
McIntosh manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
McIntosh is trying to control the position but derek postures up.
derek must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
McIntosh had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. derek is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. McIntosh Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take derek's back instead.
derek tries to escape but McIntosh has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

McIntosh has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, derek has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

McIntosh pushes derek away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, derek gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Vinyard derek showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

McIntosh slips a nice elbow through derek's hands, connecting with derek's forehead.
McIntosh postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for derek to stand up.
Vinyard derek seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and McIntosh counters with a lovely shot to the body.

and McIntosh counters with a single leg into guard. derek didn't expect that.

derek wants to sweep but no luck.

McIntosh stands up from guard. Let's bang!
McIntosh takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
McIntosh has his takedown stuffed
and derek counters with a thumping low kick.
derek throws a head kick that misses.
derek misses with a jab, cross combination.
McIntosh feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
McIntosh wants to stand but derek is controlling his posture from full guard.

McIntosh distracts derek with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
derek wants to get back to his feet but McIntosh passes into half guard.
Still in half guard, McIntosh seems content to control.
McIntosh looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks derek with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
