Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ervin Webster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Giorgos Polatidis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ervin Webster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Giorgos Polatidis!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Sergei Dronov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Polatidis moves into the clinch.
Webster blocks an elbow strike.
The referee calls for Webster to work.

Polatidis manages to break the clinch.

Webster tries to keep at a distance but Polatidis has taken the fight into the clinch.
Polatidis is looking to break free of the clinch but Webster has double underhooks.

Webster breaks from the clinch.

Polatidis shoots in and bounces Webster off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Webster pushes Polatidis off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Giorgos Polatidis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Webster kicks Polatidis off and gets back to his feet.

The fight stays on the outside here - Polatidis looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Polatidis closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Webster quickly recovers to half guard.
Webster tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Polatidis manages to move to mount!
Webster is squirming around, avoiding Polatidis's attempts to control the action.

Webster is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Polatidis sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Polatidis wants to control the pace but Webster is squirming around nicely.
Polatidis blocks Webster's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Webster tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Webster is trying desperately to improve position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Polatidis throws some wild stikes that Webster manages to avoid easily.

Webster is trying to reverse the position but instead Polatidis has taken his back - oops!

Polatidis looking to break Webster's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Webster remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Polatidis will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Polatidis keeps control of the position as Webster tries to break free.

A lull in the action here.
Webster is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Polatidis slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Webster gets tackled into the cage by Polatidis. Polatidis maintains the clinch.
Webster is trying to pull guard but Polatidis turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Polatidis tries to close the distance and clinch but Webster swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Polatidis feints and as Webster raises his hands in defense, Polatidis changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Giorgos Polatidis has got the better of the ground game so far.

Webster is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Polatidis defends well.
Polatidis controls from within his opponent's guard.
Polatidis looking to sit in guard and control but Webster gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Polatidis wants to sweep here but Webster controlling him for the moment.
Polatidis manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Webster manages to get himself to full guard.

Polatidis must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Webster escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Polatidis gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Polatidis is looking to work some ground and pound but Webster has wrist control.

Polatidis gets to his feet - Webster follows without any prompting.

Polatidis bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Webster tries to hold on but Polatidis pushes him away.

Polatidis goes for an armbar but Webster turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Webster.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Polatidis holds on and takes a little breather.
Polatidis wants to stand up but Webster is controlling him.
Polatidis tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Polatidis lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Giorgos Polatidis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Webster's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Webster dives in and grabs Polatidis's left leg, looking for a takedown. Polatidis pushes down on Webster's head and hops out.

Polatidis closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Webster did well to prevent Polatidis getting side control.
Polatidis seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Webster does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Webster has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Polatidis is working away from the top position though.

Webster is wriggling around but Polatidis manages to pass to half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.


Polatidis moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Webster.

Webster tries to escape but Polatidis is in control.

Ervin Webster has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Giorgos Polatidis is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Well Polatidis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
