Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Burdon Ambler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladimir Mikhail (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Burdon Ambler has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Burdon Ambler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladimir Mikhail!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Valeri Chadov and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice straight punches there by Ambler. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Ambler.
Mikhail looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ambler is fending him off so far but Mikhail persists. Nope, Ambler circles away and we're back to standing.

Mikhail scores a takedown into full mount!
Ambler tries to hold on but Mikhail postures up.
Ambler is trying to reverse the position but instead Mikhail has taken his back - oops!
Ambler is trying to break free.
Mikhail avoiding Ambler 's attempts to control his hands.
Ambler controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Mikhail looks gassed!
Ambler staying busy and making it hard for Mikhail to control.

Mikhail doesn't have the hooks in and Ambler manages to turn into his guard.
Ambler trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A left and a right from Ambler both land. Nice combination.

Ambler fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Mikhail looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Ambler lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Ambler scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Ambler closes the distance and lands a one-two.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Ambler feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Ambler thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Mikhail looking to control.
Ambler postures up in Mikhail's guard and throws a big left but Mikhail blocks it.
Ambler has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mikhail is proving hard to escape from.
Ambler pushes down on Mikhail's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Ambler is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Ambler wants to control but Mikhail is keeping him busy.

Mikhail is defending against the submission attempts here by Ambler.

Ambler is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mikhail defends it well.

Ambler is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mikhail doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ambler.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mikhail gets full guard.
Ambler works a leg free and moves into half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mikhail wants to get back to full guard.

Ambler is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Ambler content to control rather than advance.
Ambler wants to take a breather but Mikhail is having none of it.

Ambler is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Mikhail has managed to free his arm - good work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mikhail is holding on to half guard well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Mikhail swats away the attempt to clinch by Ambler.
Ambler misses with a wild combination.
Mikhail tries for a takedown but Ambler circles away easily
and Mikhail takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Left hook, right uppercut from Ambler.
Ambler scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Mikhail doesn't seem bothered though.
Mikhail is breathing heavily.
Ambler throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mikhail stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Ambler changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Ambler scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Ambler closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ambler lands in his opponent's guard.
Ambler wants to pass the guard but Mikhail is keeping the position.
Mikhail is trying to keep Ambler in close.
Ambler advances position into side control!
Ambler trying to control the position but Mikhail is working away.
Ambler will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Mikhail tries to bench press Ambler off him but Ambler keeps the position.

Ambler decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Ambler scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Ambler really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Mikhail has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Ambler drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ambler pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mikhail is keeping the position for now.
Ambler trying to control the position from guard on top but Mikhail is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Ambler drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ambler jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Mikhail controls Ambler momentarily but Ambler frees himself.
Mikhail is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Ambler is looking to work some ground and pound but Mikhail has wrist control.

Ambler throws a series of punches but Mikhail avoids them all with ease.
Mikhail takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Ambler shoots in and bounces Mikhail off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Ambler looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Ambler throws a big right hand that misses.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Ambler has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ambler throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ambler digs a good hook to Mikhail's body.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Ambler.
Ambler lands some shots froms side control.
The referee asks Ambler politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Ambler prefers to stall for the moment though.
Mikhail looking for a sweep but Ambler has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Mikhail is trying to maintain the position but Ambler is very close to passing his half guard.

Burdon Ambler overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ambler fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Ambler is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Ambler lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ambler throws a nice looking combination but Mikhail bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
A combination from Ambler does no damage.
Vladimir Mikhail has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Burdon Ambler is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Good leg kick by Mikhail there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Well Ambler has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
