PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Adam Ash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Cabrera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 1, fighting out of New York, Adam Ash!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lucas Cabrera!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Atkins and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cabrera on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Cabrera slips under a jab.
Cabrera connects with a leg kick. Ash looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Ash scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Cabrera looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Cabrera lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.


It looks like Adam Ash has been cut.
Cabrera tried to score with a low kick but Ash checks it.
Cabrera lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Ash at a distance.
Ash tries to work over Cabrera's front leg with a kick but Cabrera checks it.

We've been hearing that Ash has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Ash is keen to just control but Cabrera is a slippery customer.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ash throws a right and a left that Cabrera avoids nicely.

Cabrera lands with an uppercut that bounces Ash off the cage and back into range.
Cabrera lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Cabrera wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Ash fails with a takedown attempt.

And Cabrera tries to counter it with a takedown but Ash pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Lucas Cabrera showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ash accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Cabrera is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Ash tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Cabrera's elbow.

The crowd cheers as Cabrera lands an impressive looking overhand right. Ash doesn't seem phased though.

Ash closes the distance and clinches up with Cabrera, looking for a takedown. Ash pushes Cabrera against the cage but Cabrera circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Cabrera takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Ash lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Ash throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Ash thows a huge punch but Cabrera dodges it nicely.
Cabrera is trying to stand back up but Ash is controlling him
Cabrera is refusing to be controlled, as Ash sits in half guard.
Ash lands strikes from half guard.
Ash missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Ash prevents Cabrera from standing back up.

Ash is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cabrera is just riding it out for now. Ash eventually gives up the hold.

And that's the end of the fight!
Adam Ash showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Ash has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
