Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tatsuya Aoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlo Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 37 - 23 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Tatsuya Aoki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Carlo Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Robert Douchet and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez works over Aoki's head and body with a nice combination.
Carlo Alvarez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Aoki displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Alvarez throws out the jab.
Aoki half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

and Aoki counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Alvarez looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Aoki puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Aoki misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A counter left hand to the body from Aoki misses its target.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Alvarez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Aoki is fending him off so far but Alvarez persists. Nope, Aoki circles away and we're back to standing.
Tatsuya Aoki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carlo Alvarez.

Aoki shoots in and bounces Alvarez off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Aoki is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Aoki ducks under a wild hook from Alvarez.
Aoki tries to counter with a takedown but Alvarez is quick to defend against it.

Alvarez shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Aoki napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Alvarez winds up and cracks Aoki with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Aoki wants to improve his position but Alvarez is controlling well.

Alvarez is keen to just control but Aoki is a slippery customer.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Horrible takedown attempt by Alvarez or perhaps it was just good defense by Aoki, which made it look bad.
Alvarez throws an overhand right that lands on Aoki's shoulder, as Aoki tries to avoid the shot.

Alvarez swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Alvarez shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Alvarez showed some decent athleticism there.
Aoki is trying to control but can't.

Alvarez is nestled in close to Aoki, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Aoki makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Aoki.

Aoki looking to hit a scissor sweep but Alvarez is one step ahead there.
Aoki wants to stand and escape but Alvarez is having none of it.
Alvarez lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Aoki is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Alvarez defends well.

Alvarez controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Alvarez trying to control the position from guard on top but Aoki is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Aoki has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Alvarez should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Aoki has tightened it up now! Alvarez should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

An out of breath Tatsuya Aoki thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
