Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dj Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robin Mills (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dj Shaw looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dj Shaw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Robin Mills!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Sandra Marshall and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mills changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Shaw tries to avoid it but Mills manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shaw to the ground. Shaw escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Shaw lands with a thumping leg kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mills looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Shaw fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mills sprawls well initially but Shaw persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Mills wants to control but Shaw is keeping busy.
Mills is looking to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mills looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Shaw in particular looking to stall.
Mills trying to control here.
Shaw drops an elbow to the side of Mills's head.
Shaw will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Shaw is breathing heavily.
Mills trying to control from the bottom.
Mills is looking for a sweep. Shaw is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Mills trying to hold on to Shaw's head to control him but Shaw postures up.
Shaw has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Shaw decides to return to a standing position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Shaw getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Mills fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Shaw manages to avoid it.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Shaw.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Mills has eaten all the pies!
Mills shoots in looking for a takedown. Shaw tries to sprawl out of it but Mills keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shaw manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Shaw tries a head kick but it misses.
Shaw scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Mills looks for a takedown but Shaw sprawls well.
Shaw went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Dj Shaw has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robin Mills.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mills shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Shaw as he avoids it easily.

Shaw closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Shaw has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Mills!

Shaw has isolated one of Mills's arms. Mills looking to fight him off but Shaw twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Dj Shaw!
Dj Shaw was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
