Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joseph Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cuneyt Arkin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joseph Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cuneyt Arkin!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson tries to clinch

and Arkin counters with a shoot takedown. Jackson fights it but they end up in guard.

Jackson pushes Arkin off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Arkin should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Jackson drives through with a takedown into guard.
Jackson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Arkin is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Arkin wants to stand and escape but Jackson is having none of it.
Jackson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Arkin swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jackson stays in close to Arkin's body and controls the position.
Arkin is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Arkin wants to stand but Jackson is controlling the position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Jackson wants to clinch.
Arkin has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Arkin doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Jackson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Jackson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Arkin sneaks back into half guard.

Jackson wants to pass to mount but Arkin is defending the position.
Arkin controlling the position for now.
Jackson controlling the action here.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Arkin can do anything to dispel that myth.

Jackson decides to stand and escape the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jackson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Arkin.

Jackson gets a clinch.
Arkin is trying to pull guard but Jackson has him pressed against the cage.
Arkin prevents the takedown attempt.
Jackson drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Jackson breaks the clinch.
Jackson throws a right hand that Arkin ducks under and follows up with a left that Arkin also avoids with ease.
Arkin looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Jackson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Jackson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Jackson prevents Arkin from improving his position.

Arkin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jackson is working away from the top position though.
Jackson slows the pace down in half guard.

Jackson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Arkin is just riding it out for now. Jackson eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jackson wants to control but Arkin is keeping him busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Jackson tries a head kick but it misses.
Arkin looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jackson is fending him off so far but Arkin persists. Nope, Jackson circles away and we're back to standing.

Arkin gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jackson to score an easy takedown into full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Arkin drops back, looking for a kneebar! Jackson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Jackson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Jackson!

Jackson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Jackson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Arkin stuffs the takedown.
Joseph Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sloppy strikes from Jackson. Those never looked like landing.
Arkin avoids the head kick by Jackson.
Jackson shoots in looking for a takedown but Arkin manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jackson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Jackson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Arkin is trying to get back to his feet.

Jackson decides to stand up, so the ref orders Arkin to his feet.
Jackson's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Jackson duly obliges.
Jackson has his takedown stuffed

and Arkin moves into the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joseph Jackson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jackson tries for a takedown but Arkin manages to get underhooks.
Jackson tries to pull guard but Arkin holds him up against the cage and eventually Jackson drops back down to his feet.

Arkin wants to take the fight to the mat but Jackson manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Arkin is trying to drag Jackson to the mat but Jackson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Jackson jumps guard but Arkin stands there with Jackson around his waist. Jackson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Jackson digs a right hand into Arkin's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Arkin's gas tank.
Arkin is breathing heavily.
Arkin wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Arkin tries to score a body lock takedown but Jackson shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Jackson breaks from the clinch.
Jackson shoots in and drives through. Arkin sprawls well.
Jackson misses with a low kick.
Joseph Jackson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
No luck for Jackson with that takedown attempt.
Jackson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Arkin tries to avoid it but Jackson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Arkin to the ground. Arkin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jackson tries to land a front kick but Arkin steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Jackson feints and as Arkin raises his hands in defense, Jackson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Jackson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Jackson wants to control from the top but Arkin keeps moving.

Arkin is working an open guard so Jackson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Jackson misses with a takedown attempt - Arkin sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jackson is defended easily by Arkin.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Arkin shoots in looking for a takedown. Jackson tries to sprawl out of it but Arkin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jackson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Joseph Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cuneyt Arkin.

Jackson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Jackson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Arkin is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Jackson throws a strike but Arkin avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Arkin wants to control but Jackson postures up.
Joseph Jackson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Arkin is trying to get back to half guard.
Jackson tries to move to mount but Arkin blocks the move with his legs.

Cuneyt Arkin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Arkin is looking to regain half guard here but Jackson keeps moving and retains side control.
Jackson avoids the strikes from the bottom by Arkin.
Jackson is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Jackson tries to move into full mount but can't pass Arkin's legs.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The referee asks Jackson politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Jackson prefers to stall for the moment though.

Well Jackson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
