Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gaylord Cannon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aaron Levis!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Ivan Kurochkin and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Levis forces Cannon back against the cage and clinches.

Cannon breaks the clinch.

Levis moves into the clinch.
Cannon is defending well against a takedown attempt.

It looks like Aaron Levis has been cut.

Cannon gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Cannon engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Levis throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Cannon sitting in guard here, content to control.
Cannon wants to control from the top but Levis keeps moving.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Aaron Levis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Levis tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Cannon defends well and Levis ends up having to push Cannon into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Levis fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Cannon avoids it really well and circles away.

Cannon escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Cannon is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Levis to keep the fight standing.

Levis shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cannon sprawls well. Cannon wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Levis gets slowly back to his feet.

Levis uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cannon.

Levis pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Cannon keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Levis shoots in and drives through. Cannon sprawls well.

Levis throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cannon.

Cannon displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Levis.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cannon wants to clinch up but Levis keeps it at a distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Horrible takedown attempt by Levis or perhaps it was just good defense by Cannon, which made it look bad.
Levis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Cannon as he jumps to the side.

Levis uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cannon.
Levis lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Gaylord Cannon is winning the standup battle so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Levis moves into the clinch.
Levis tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Cannon breaks the clinch.
Levis blocks a jab.
Levis is breathing heavily.

Levis takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Levis darts in and clinches Cannon up against the cage.
Levis tries to work over Cannon's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Cannon's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Levis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cannon tries to avoid it but Levis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cannon to the ground. Cannon escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Levis feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Cannon has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Levis is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Cannon has Levis pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Cannon pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Levis tumbling to the mat - Cannon dives into Levis's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cannon is looking to stand up but Levis won't let him.
Cannon is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Levis can do to turn this around?
Levis can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Cannon controls the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Cannon stopping the sweep attempt from Levis.
Levis thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Cannon drops back, looking for a kneebar! Levis looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Levis looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Levis!

Levis is trying to move to mount but Cannon reverses beautifully and ends up in Levis's guard.
Cannon is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Cannon's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Cannon gets to his feet. Levis looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Cannon breaks from the clinch.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Levis shoots in looking for a takedown. Cannon tries to sprawl out of it but Levis keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cannon manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Cannon wants to clinch but Levis slips to the side
and Levis counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Cannon misses with a hook.
Cannon displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Levis.
Cannon stuffs the takedown attempt from Levis. Levis gets slowly back to his feet.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Levis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Cannon as he avoids it easily.

Cannon escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Levis clinches up against the cage.
Cannon changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Levis fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Levis lands with a right hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cannon throws out a loose jab but Levis uses good head movement to avoid it.

Levis rushes Cannon and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Cannon turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Levis is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Cannon presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Levis is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Aaron Levis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Cannon fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Levis manages to avoid it.
A nice side step and Levis releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Levis looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cannon is fending him off so far but Levis persists. Nope, Cannon circles away and we're back to standing.

Cannon swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Cannon throws a body punch but Levis moves out of range.
Levis wants to counter the offense by Cannon and move into the clinch position.
Levis tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Cannon defends well and Levis ends up having to push Cannon into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Cannon tries to counter with a takedown but Levis is quick to defend against it.
Levis has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Cannon throws a head kick but Levis moves out of range.

Cannon is trying to pull guard but Levis turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Levis is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Cannon blocks an elbow strike.
Levis has Cannon pressed against the cage, preventing Cannon from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Cannon drops down looking for an ankle pick but Levis pulls his leg out and moves away.
Gaylord Cannon is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Levis throws a low kick but Cannon moves out of range easily.
Cannon appears to be looking for a big counter.
Levis misses with a head kick.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Levis.
A little feinted left hand from Cannon on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Cannon. Levis does a little dance to reset his feet.
Aaron Levis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Gaylord Cannon is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Levis misses with an attempted mid kick.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Gaylord Cannon.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cannon, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
