PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Allan Bates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Wang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wang has chosen the wang song as his entrance music. The key to victory for Allan Bates has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Allan Bates!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jason Wang!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Sergei Dronov and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Wang enables Bates to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Wang manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Wang avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Wang looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wang lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Bates has control of Wang's left arm, preventing Wang from doing any damage.
Wang wanted to stand there but Bates had control of the position.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Wang wants to control from the top but Bates keeps moving.
Wang slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Wang wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bates keeps working.

Bates is trying to control Wang's posture but Wang avoids it.

Wang changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Bates closes this distance looking for a takedown but Wang circles away.
Wang drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Bates defends it well.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Wang. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Bates pushes Wang away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Wang gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Bates fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Jason Wang showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Wang tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Bates defends well and Wang ends up having to push Bates into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Bates might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Bates is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Wang cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Wang is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Bates has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Bates takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Wang moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Bates has worked his arm free - good work by Bates!

Wang creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Bates sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Wang throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Bates shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Wang's guard.
Wang wants to sweep here but Bates controlling him for the moment.

Jason Wang is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Jason Wang comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Wang has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
