The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Peter Branson and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eye manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Kubiak on his heels. He'll look to pass Kubiak's guard now, I'm sure.
Eye trying to control but Kubiak is working from the bottom.
Eye stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kubiak swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Eye working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Eye wants to control from the top but Kubiak keeps moving.
Kubiak escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Eye gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Eye works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Eye has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kubiak flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Eye missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Eye not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Eye takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Eye is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Eye is thwarting Kubiak's attempts to control the position.
Kubiak looks winded!

Kubiak keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Eye is trying to work for a kimura but Kubiak is defending well.
Eye is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kubiak defends it well.

Kubiak is staying active underneath Eye, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Kubiak has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Eye is working away from the top position though.
Kubiak is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kubiak won't allow Eye to pass to mount.
