PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Mercy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marv Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Mercy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marv Miller!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Dean Styles and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Mercy. No joy for Miller on that attempt.
As Miller looks to move away, Mercy throws a big counter combo bu Miller just gets out of the way.
Miller throws a shot from downtown. Mercy moves away and avoids it.
Mercy on the wrong end of a nice jab.
A combination from Miller does no damage.
Miller closes the distance and clinches up with Mercy, looking for a takedown. Miller pushes Mercy against the cage but Mercy circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Miller tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mercy was well out of range. Poor timing from Miller.

Mercy uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Miller.
Miller avoids a punch combination nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mercy lands a left and a right that send Miller crashing to the mat, dazed. Mercy thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Miller is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Miller clobbers Mercy with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Miller cracks Mercy with a good jab.
John Mercy is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Good shot there by Miller.
Miller misses with a hook.
Miller cracks Mercy with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Miller shoots for a takedown but Mercy saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
John Mercy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marv Miller.
Mercy tries to bum rush Miller with a series of wild strikes but Miller uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Miller shoots in and drives through. Mercy sprawls well.
Mercy closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Mercy slips a straight right by Miller.
Mercy takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Mercy misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Mercy displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Miller throws out the jab.
Miller might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Miller dodges the punch combination from Mercy.
Miller showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Mercy.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mercy throws a series of punches but Miller moves out of range.

Mercy is breathing heavily.
Mercy throws a nice looking combination but Miller bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Miller will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Miller, as that shot connected.
Mercy drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Mercy walks into a stiff left hand from Miller.
Miller is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Mercy had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Miller scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Miller steps into range and cracks Mercy with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Mercy flops backwards and Miller dives into his guard looking to finish!


Mercy is rocked!
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Miller's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Oh Mercy is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Miller postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Miller lands a couple of elbows.
Miller arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Mercy's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Marv Miller!
