Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Robert The Sponge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gugun Gusman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gugun Gusman will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gugun Gusman!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gusman lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Gusman sends The Sponge crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Gusman is motioning to the referee to let The Sponge up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
The Sponge is rocked!
Gusman misses with a double jab
and The Sponge counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Oh The Sponge is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gusman can't keep his opponent in guard - The Sponge advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The Sponge seems to have got his legs back now.
Gusman wants to get back to his feet.
Gusman is staying active underneath The Sponge, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The Sponge is working for a kimura but Gusman is defending it quite comfortably.
The Sponge wants to take a breather but Gusman is having none of it.
The Sponge perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The Sponge in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Gusman tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from The Sponge!
