The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weir circles away from the clinch attempt.
Weir throws out a counter right but Ward avoids it with no problem.

Weir shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Weir showed some decent athleticism there.

Weir is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Ward wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Weir tries to pass to full mount but Ward defends it.

Weir is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Weir looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Weir really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ward. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
