Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Melvin Butts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eduardo Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Melvin Butts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Eduardo Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Bart Greer and Daniel Franklin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Gracie misses the body punch

and Butts decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Gracie's guard.
Butts is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Butts trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Gracie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Butts gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gracie is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Butts is aware though and is defending well.

Butts trying to control but Gracie is working from the bottom.
Butts knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground.
Butts pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gracie is keeping the position for now.

Butts drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gracie looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gracie looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gracie!

Gracie is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Butts knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Butts regains half guard.
Butts is controlling Gracie's trapped leg to prevent Gracie from advancing to side control.

Gracie is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Butts doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gracie.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Gracie is working for a kimura but Butts is defending it quite comfortably.
Butts wants to get back to full guard.

Gracie moves into full mount! Butts won't be happy about that!
Gracie avoids the attempt from Butts to control.

Gracie is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Butts is surviving well by controlling Gracie's body position as best he can.
Butts is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Gracie swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Butts is now in Gracie's guard. A big mistake from Gracie there, giving up the dominant position!

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Gracie throws a combination that misses

and Butts counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Butts looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Butts stands up and waves to Gracie to follow him.
Gracie jabs Butts to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Butts takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Gracie swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Butts counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Butts takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Butts seems to be working for a kimura but Gracie defends the submission attempt.
Butts stalling away here and it's allowed Gracie to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Butts lands a couple of elbows.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Gracie lands with a straight right. Butts didn't see that one coming.
Gracie goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

It looks like Melvin Butts has been cut.
Butts really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Gracie swings widly with a right hand

so Butts counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Butts wants to stand but Gracie has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Butts not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Melvin Butts overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Gracie has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Butts can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Butts stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gracie swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Butts keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Gracie's head.

Butts is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Butts chips away with some ground and pound.
Butts with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Butts is looking to stand up but Gracie won't let him.
Butts seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Butts is working Gracie over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Butts lands a couple of digs.

Gracie is looking for a triangle but Butts pushes his legs off easily.

Gracie is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Butts has his hands clasped together but Gracie extends and breaks Butts's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Gracie.
