Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Canner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Zach Belica!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Canner clinches.
Canner tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Belica just stands there and leans against the ropes.
Belica is trying to break the clinch but Canner has him pressed against the ropes.
Canner drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Belica gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Canner drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Canner. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Belica looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Canner escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Canner shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Belica fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Joe Canner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Belica has closed the distance and engaged Canner in a clinch.

Belica is trying to break the clinch but Canner is controlling him.
Canner wants to take the fight to the mat but Belica manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Belica is looking to break free of the clinch but Canner has double underhooks.
Belica tries to break the clinch but Canner is controlling the position.

Belica lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Canner is trying to drag Belica to the mat but Belica just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there.

Belica successfully pulls guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Canner postures up in Belica's guard and throws a big left but Belica blocks it.

Belica looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Canner loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Belica had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Canner defends it easily.
Belica throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Canner stands up and waves to Belica to follow him.
No luck for Canner with that takedown attempt.
Canner shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Belica but Belica pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Canner is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Canner darts in looking for a takedown but Belica gets double underhooks and turns Canner into the ropes.
Canner tries to clinch up.
Canner tries to close the distance and clinch up but Belica swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Belica swinging wildly here.
Canner misses with a takedown attempt
and Belica counters with a left and a right that stings Canner.
Canner looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Belica is fending him off so far but Canner persists. Nope, Belica circles away and we're back to standing.

A jab-cross combination lands for Belica and sends Canner crashing to the mat! Belica follows him down to the mat - Canner regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!


Canner is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Belica is trying for a kimura here. Canner looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Belica wins by kimura!
