Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Russ Jensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nicolae Filimon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Nicolae Filimon enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Russ Jensen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nicolae Filimon!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Emerson Jorge and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jensen tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Filimon shoots and misses

and Jensen moves into the clinch.

Jensen ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Jensen no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Filimon keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Jensen's head.
Filimon works over Jensen with some ground and pound from guard.
Filimon loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Jensen not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jensen is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Filimon must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Filimon throws a strike but Jensen rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Jensen could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Jensen breaks from Filimon's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Jensen is in the full mount, landing strikes.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Filimon can do anything to dispel that myth.

Filimon is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Filimon is desperately trying to improve his position but Jensen has a good base and remains in mount.

Jensen avoids the attempt from Filimon to control.

Jensen looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jensen trying to control but Filimon is having none of it.

Jensen working for a guillotine from mount but Filimon is in no mood to give up.

Jensen has hold of Filimon's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Filimon manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jensen controlling the pace for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Jensen will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Filimon is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Filimon shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Filimon showed some decent athleticism there.

Jensen manages to escape and get back to his feet!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Jensen enables Filimon to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jensen manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jensen is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Filimon is controlling him.
Filimon is breathing heavily.

Filimon cracks Jensen with a solid left hand.
Jensen wants to stand up but Filimon is controlling him.
Jensen looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Russ Jensen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Filimon wants to control from the top but Jensen keeps moving.
Filimon loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Filimon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jensen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Jensen wants to stand and escape but Filimon is having none of it.
Filimon postures up and lands a big shot to Jensen's brow.
Filimon in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Jensen had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Filimon defends it easily.

Filimon drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Jensen manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Filimon has Jensen in his guard.
Filimon is wriggling around but Jensen manages to pass to half guard.

Jensen is controlling the pace.

Filimon looking for a kimura from the bottom but Jensen passes into side control!

Jensen tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jensen has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Filimon looks to move to half guard but instead Jensen has passed into mount! Damn!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Jensen takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Jensen tries to clinch but Filimon is having none of it.
Nicolae Filimon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jensen doesn't manage to clinch there - Filimon circles away.

Jensen drives through and clinches with Filimon against the cage.

Filimon has picked Jensen up - he's going for a ride! Filimon dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Jensen makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Filimon has his takedown stuffed

and Jensen counters by moving into the clinch.
Filimon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Jensen has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Filimon regains guard immediately.
Filimon is looking to stand back up but Jensen counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Filimon.

Filimon strikes from the bottom but Jensen passes into mount!

Jensen lands a big elbow.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jensen lands a couple of good shots and Filimon has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Jensen keeps control of the position easily here as Filimon tries to buck him off.
Jensen lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.
Jensen really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Filimon.

Jensen looking for the choke but no joy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jensen is punishing Filimon with strikes - can he finish him?!
Jensen is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Filimon is trying to get back to his feet but Jensen has full control of the position and if anything, Filimon has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jensen really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Filimon.
Filimon is really stuck here.

Russ Jensen showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jensen, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
