PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Costa Munteanu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kemba Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kemba Walker!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Hugh Johnson and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Walker gets a double leg takedown into Munteanu's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Walker is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Munteanu tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Walker defends well and Munteanu ends up having to push Walker into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Walker is looking for a kimura but Munteanu is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Walker to get the leverage.

Munteanu definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Walker is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Munteanu has managed to free his arm - good work.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Walker looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Munteanu fails with the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kemba Walker dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Walker fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Munteanu sprawls well initially but Walker persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Munteanu flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Walker is looking to advance position but Munteanu won't allow it.

Walker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Munteanu. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Walker passes the guard and advances to mount!

Walker is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Munteanu can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Walker can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Munteanu is looking to escape.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Walker controlling the pace for now.
Munteanu is wriggling around trying to escape.

Walker looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Walker swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Kemba Walker!
Kemba Walker gave a mention to Voodoo Nutrition in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
