The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takahashi with a nice cross.
Gatherer has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
A leg kick checked by Gatherer.
Takahashi fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Gatherer moves away from the strike by Takahashi.
Takahashi scores with a shot to the body.
Takahashi dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Gatherer. That did some damage!

Gatherer throws out a loose jab but Takahashi uses good head movement to avoid it.

Gatherer takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Gatherer has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Takahashi takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Gatherer tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gatherer throws a shot from downtown. Takahashi moves away and avoids it.
As Gatherer backs away, Takahashi returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Takahashi throws a low kick, looking for Gatherer's leg but Gatherer calmly moves out of range.

Gatherer thinks about the counter body kick.
Takahashi smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Gatherer was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Takahashi thumps Gatherer with a low kick.
Gatherer swings widly with a right hand
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Takahashi does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Gatherer on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Takahashi. Takahashi obviously looking to wear him down.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Takahashi, right into the meat.
Gatherer avoids the head kick by Takahashi.
Gatherer throws a hook but Takahashi blocks it.
Takahashi moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Takahashi tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Gatherer is able to avoid easily.
Takahashi lands a nice leg kick that just misses Gatherer's sensitive parts.

Gatherer uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Takahashi.
Gatherer takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Gatherer checks the leg kick nicely there.
Takahashi is looking to score with low kicks.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Gatherer! But no joy.
Takahashi plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Takahashi is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Takahashi cracks Gatherer with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
A big left from Gatherer misses.
Takahashi throws a quick inside leg kick.
Takahashi is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Gatherer stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Takahashi misses with a right hand
and Gatherer counters with a left and a right that stings Takahashi.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gatherer tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Gatherer throws a half hearted mid kick.
Takahashi appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Gatherer connects with a leg kick. Takahashi looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Gatherer works the jab nicely.
Ethelbart Takahashi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gatherer gets cracked there but stands up to it.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Takahashi throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Gatherer on the side of the head.
Gatherer is rocked!
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Takahashi - that will leave a mark!
Gatherer looks winded!
Takahashi fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Gatherer is out of range.
A countering left hand to the body from Gatherer misses.
Takahashi throws an overhand right that drops Gatherer like a sack of potatoes! Takahashi dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!
