Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Donnell James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Avreliy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mark Avreliy is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mark Avreliy!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Aleksandr Martynov and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

James clinches up against the cage.

Avreliy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Avreliy is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

James has picked Avreliy up - he's going for a ride! James dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Avreliy flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
James knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Avreliy on the ground.
Avreliy tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

James is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Avreliy misses with a takedown
and James counters with a left and a right that stings Avreliy.
Avreliy shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. James defends it nicely.
It looked like James was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

James is looking to take a break and control but Avreliy is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Avreliy is trying to get back to half guard.
Avreliy has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Avreliy tries to strike but it doesn't land.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Avreliy manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Avreliy shoots in for a double leg but James sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
It looked like James was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Donnell James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Avreliy.
James throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

James has closed the distance and engaged Avreliy in a clinch.

Avreliy tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Avreliy jumps guard and drags James to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Donnell James dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



James has closed the distance and engaged Avreliy in a clinch.
James has Avreliy pressed against the cage, preventing Avreliy from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Avreliy effectively controlling the action here.

James has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Avreliy is trying to keep an underhook but James manages to get the takedown into half guard.

James tries to escape but Avreliy has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Avreliy lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns James.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Avreliy has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for James.

Avreliy sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! James taps out!
