The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson fails with a takedown attempt.
No luck for Jackson with that takedown attempt.
Baird goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

and Baird counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joshua Jackson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jackson tries to clinch there but Baird circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters circle momentarily. Baird darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Baird feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Jackson's calf.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Jackson enables Baird to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jackson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Baird advances to half guard.
Jackson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Baird on the ground.
Baird has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Baird scoring with strikes but Jackson is staying in there.

Jackson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Baird wants to finish this one by submission but Jackson is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Baird.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jackson is desperately trying to improve his position but Baird has a good base and remains in mount.
My spies in Gym of the Gods inform me that Baird has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Jackson takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Baird's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
