Fred Palowakski has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Vice Versa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 33 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fred Palowakski!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Paul Gruel and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palowakski throws a left and a right that both miss
and Versa counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Palowakski thinking.
Palowakski lands with a right hand.
Palowakski uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Versa.
Palowakski throws out a loose jab but Versa uses good head movement to avoid it.
Palowakski throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Palowakski closes the distance and clinches.

Palowakski has Versa pressed against the cage, preventing Versa from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Versa wants a takedown.

Palowakski seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Versa does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Palowakski thuds his shin into the meat of Versa's side.
Palowakski slips a jab and a cross from Versa.
Palowakski tries to close the distance and clinch up but Versa swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Versa is trying to drag Palowakski to the mat but Palowakski just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Palowakski is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Palowakski throws a punch but it's blocked by Versa.

Versa fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Palowakski breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Versa is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Palowakski gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Versa tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Versa is fighting to break Palowakski's control of his arms but Palowakski is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Palowakski has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Versa doesn't defend quickly enough and Palowakski has managed to lock this one up! Can Versa escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Palowakski on a fantastic submission victory.
