The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akamatsu scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Akamatsu connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Velasquez momentarily.
Velasquez shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Velasquez on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Nice takedown defense from Akamatsu. No joy for Velasquez on that attempt.

Akamatsu lands a huge takedown. Velasquez is out but the ref is slow to react and Akamatsu lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. Velasquez lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.
