PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lyoto Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barney Stinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Machida's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Straight Out of Line. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Barney Stinson!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Franklyn Lucas and Anthony Taglia.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machida cracks Stinson with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

It looks like Barney Stinson has been cut.
Stinson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Machida avoids a punch combination nicely.
Machida goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Stinson misses with a two punch combination.
A head kick misses from Stinson.
Barney Stinson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Machida lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Stinson circles away quickly and effectively.
Stinson lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

It looks like Lyoto Machida has been cut.
Machida has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Machida there as he acknowledges the shot.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Stinson thows a body shot but no joy.

Stinson throws a right and a left that Machida avoids nicely.
A big left from Machida misses.
Stinson throws a nice looking combination but Machida bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Stinson crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Machida - the referee stops the clock and Stinson gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Machida. Stinson manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Machida controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Machida tries to stand but Stinson is controlling from the bottom.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Machida thows a big elbow that misses.

Machida stays in close to Stinson's body and controls the position.
Machida missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Stinson wants to stand but Machida is controlling the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A head kick misses from Machida.
Machida throws a quick inside leg kick.
Machida connects with a nice looking jab.
Machida throws a right and a left that Stinson avoids nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Machida lands a right hook to the body.
Machida tries to bum rush Stinson with a series of wild strikes but Stinson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Machida connects with a solid leg kick.
Stinson takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Lyoto Machida is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Stinson ducks straight into an uppercut from Machida and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Stinson maanges to regain guard straight away.

Stinson is rocked!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Stinson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Machida controls the pace.
Stinson seems to have recovered his senses.

Machida throws and elbow that misses. Stinson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Machida's guard. Nice move by Stinson!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Stinson wants to get up but he can't break Machida's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Machida is trying to keep Stinson in close.
Stinson is fighting to break Machida's control of his arms but Machida is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Machida's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Machida ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Stinson moves away.
Machida throws a nasty head kick that just misses. He throws another kick to the head of his opponent and almost takes it off! Stinson crumples to the floor and the fight is over!
