Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ralph Drysdale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Happy Gunderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ralph Drysdale has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ralph Drysdale!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Happy Gunderson!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Anthony Taglia and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gunderson moves in looking to clinch but Drysdale pushes him off.
Drysdale scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Drysdale avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Drysdale moves into the clinch successfully.

Drysdale manages to pull guard.
Drysdale is trying to keep Gunderson in close.

Drysdale working for a triangle but Gunderson defends it easily.

Drysdale looking for a guillotine here but Gunderson defends easily.

Drysdale escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gunderson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Gunderson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Gunderson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gunderson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Drysdale wants to sweep here but Gunderson controlling him for the moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Drysdale utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Gunderson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Drysdale is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Drysdale shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Gunderson regains half guard.
Drysdale wants to control but Gunderson is keeping him busy.
Drysdale passes to full mount!

Drysdale working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Drysdale is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Gunderson tries to lock up and control but Drysdale gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Gunderson is trying desperately to improve position.

Drysdale moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Gunderson has worked his arm free - good work by Gunderson!
Gunderson sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Gunderson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gunderson.

Gunderson looking for a guillotine here but Drysdale defends easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gunderson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Drysdale doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Drysdale manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Gunderson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Drysdale pushes down on Gunderson's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Drysdale tries to pass the half guard into mount. Gunderson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Gunderson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Gunderson pushes Drysdale off and gets back to his feet.

Gunderson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Gunderson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Drysdale tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Drysdale is trying to control the position but Gunderson postures up.
Gunderson postures up in Drysdale's guard and throws a big left but Drysdale blocks it.
Gunderson throwing strikes but missing.
Gunderson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Drysdale is keeping the position for now.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Drysdale wants to sweep here but Gunderson controlling him for the moment.

Gunderson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Drysdale manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Gunderson has Drysdale in his guard.
Drysdale wants to control from the top but Gunderson keeps moving.
Drysdale pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gunderson is keeping the position for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ralph Drysdale will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Gunderson darts in trying to clinch

and Drysdale counters with a nice double leg into side control. Gunderson won't be happy with that.
Drysdale staying calm.
Gunderson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Gunderson manages to work his way to half guard, despite Drysdale's best efforts.
Gunderson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Drysdale is working away from the top position though.
Drysdale wants to take a breather but Gunderson is having none of it.

Gunderson is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Drysdale pulls his head out easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gunderson trying to hold on to Drysdale's head to control him but Drysdale postures up.

Gunderson has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Drysdale. Oh but Gunderson has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Drysdale goes limp - he's gone! Gunderson jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Happy Gunderson!
