PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Seto Takiama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sky Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Walker comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Bad Mofo - Jai One ft. Charlie Blaze kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Seto Takiama has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Seto Takiama!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sky Walker!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker leaves Takiama with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Walker. No joy for Takiama on that attempt.
Takiama is breathing heavily.
Takiama slips a jab from Walker.
Takiama feinted with a counter takedown.
Horrible takedown attempt by Walker or perhaps it was just good defense by Takiama, which made it look bad.
Walker throws a one two combo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Walker shoots in for a takedown but Takiama shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
It looked like Takiama wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Takiama avoids the head kick by Walker.
Walker misses with a takedown attempt - Takiama sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Seto Takiama has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sky Walker.

Walker has his takedown stuffed
and Takiama counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Walker swings for the body but Takiama moves out of range.
Takiama fails with a takedown attempt.
Walker tries to land a front kick but Takiama steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Walker fails to land the takedown.
Takiama tries to counter by clinching up but Walker breaks away and moves out of range.
Takiama looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Walker forces Takiama back against the cage and clinches.

Walker is trying to trip Takiama. He has hold of a leg but Takiama is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Walker persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Walker decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Takiama, up you get!

Walker closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Walker wants to lay and pray for a moment but Takiama keeps working.

Walker is looking to take a break and control but Takiama is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Takiama tries to improve position but can't.
You can see the frustration on Takiama's face as Walker controls the position.

Takiama is looking for a sweep.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Walker tries for a kimura but Takiama is defending well.
Takiama is looking to reverse the position.

Walker thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Walker is looking to take a break and control but Takiama is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sky Walker dominated that round.

Takiama fails with the takedown

so Walker counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Walker must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Walker tries to free his leg and advance position but Takiama is retaining full guard.
Walker has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Takiama can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Walker controls the pace.
Takiama is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Takiama is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Walker trying to hold on to Takiama's head to control him but Takiama postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Walker trying to get back to full guard but Takiama takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Walker is desperately trying to improve his position but Takiama has a good base and remains in mount.

Takiama jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Walker manages to avoid the submission attempt.
You can see the frustration on Walker's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Walker closes the distance and clinches.
Takiama tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Walker just stands there and leans against the cage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Walker unloads a knee to the mid-section. Takiama lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Walker has hold of one of Takiama's legs. Takiama is fighting the takedown attempt but Walker gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Sky Walker has got the better of the ground game so far.
Walker is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Walker wants to control from the top but Takiama keeps moving.

Walker stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Takiama swivels though and keeps the full guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Walker throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Takiama displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Walker.
Takiama seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Walker fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Walker fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Seto Takiama has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sky Walker.
Takiama lands a slapping body shot.
Seto Takiama is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Walker gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Takiama tries to score a body lock takedown but Walker shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Walker is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Takiama can't fight it off and eventually Walker manages to take the fight to the floor. Takiama looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Walker looking to sit in guard and control but Takiama gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Sky Walker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Walker clinches up with Takiama and pushes him back against the cage.

Walker is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Takiama can't fight it off and eventually Walker manages to take the fight to the floor. Takiama looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Walker seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Walker passes Takiama's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Walker thows a huge punch but Takiama dodges it nicely.
Walker takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Takiama is refusing to be controlled, as Walker sits in half guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Walker feints and as Takiama raises his hands in defense, Walker changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Takiama has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Walker off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Takiama avoids the head kick by Walker.
A little feinted left hand from Takiama on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Takiama tries for a takedown but Walker sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Takiama sets himself, and Walker steps forward looking for the clinch! Takiama avoids it this time.

Walker clinches up with Takiama and pushes him back against the cage.
Takiama is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Walker gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Walker decides to pull guard.

Takiama has gone for a leg lock! Walker slips out almost immediately though and dives into Takiama's guard.
Takiama keeping full guard, as Walker tries to pass.

Takiama is looking to stand up but Walker isn't so interested in that idea.
Walker is looking to pass into half guard but Takiama pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Takiama is in guard.

Walker has his foot on Takiama's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Takiama works his way back into a safe position though.

Takiama is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Walker tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Sky Walker is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Walker working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Takiama doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Takiama manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Takiama advances position into side control!

Takiama has hold of Walker's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Walker tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Takiama cranks the arm and Walker screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Walker, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:45 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Seto Takiama!
Sky Walker was interviewed post fight and said 'Fuck You!'.
