PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jamar Alexander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Estevolksho Ateldiolve (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Estevolksho Ateldiolve will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jamar Alexander!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Estevolksho Ateldiolve!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Anni Minnemäki and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ateldiolve motions for Alexander to come forward. Ateldiolve throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Ateldiolve misses with a wild combination.
Alexander shoots in looking for a takedown. Ateldiolve tries to sprawl out of it but Alexander keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ateldiolve manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Alexander sets himself, and Ateldiolve steps forward looking for the clinch! Alexander avoids it this time.
Ateldiolve throws a sloppy head kick

and Alexander counters with a single leg into guard. Ateldiolve didn't expect that.
Alexander could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Ateldiolve wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Alexander knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ateldiolve on the ground.

Alexander not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ateldiolve shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Alexander sprawls well. Alexander wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ateldiolve gets slowly back to his feet.
Alexander drops down looking for a counter takedown but Ateldiolve sprawls and moves away.
Ateldiolve shoots in but no luck this time.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ateldiolve fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Alexander looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

and Alexander counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Alexander.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Estevolksho Ateldiolve will probably get the nod.

Alexander throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Ateldiolve blocks it with crossed arms.

Alexander is trying to maintain a safe position but Ateldiolve gets an underhook and turns Alexander into the cage.
Alexander is trying to pull guard but Ateldiolve has him pressed against the cage.
Ateldiolve is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Alexander jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ateldiolve walks away with a smile on his face. Alexander gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Alexander counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Ateldiolve takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Alexander slows the pace down in half guard.
Alexander blocks the strikes from Ateldiolve.
Alexander is taking a breather. Ateldiolve says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Ateldiolve has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Alexander is working away from the top position though.

Estevolksho Ateldiolve comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Ateldiolve has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
