The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strauss tries for a takedown but Franco circles away easily
and Franco counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Franco turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Franco manages to end up in side control.
Franco wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Strauss, who protects the arm well.

Franco has hold of Strauss's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Strauss seems comfortable defending it but Franco has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Strauss is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Strauss is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Franco couldn't care less - he's delighted!

After winning the bout, Velasco Franco thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
In defeat, Samuel Strauss stepped up to the mic, saying 'It was a tough fight, we trained really hard, but sometimes things don't go your way. I'm gonna get back in the gym and train harder and come back better than ever'.
