Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Slevin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gunnar Steigelmann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slevin comes to the cage accompanied by Metallica - Enter Sandman. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tony Slevin!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gunnar Steigelmann!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steigelmann looks for the body kick but Slevin saw that one coming.
Steigelmann dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Slevin. That did some damage!
Steigelmann tries a head kick but it misses.
Slevin misses with a body kick.
Slevin throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Steigelmann! But no joy.
Slevin lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Steigelmann tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Steigelmann pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Slevin tries to clinch but Steigelmann is having none of it.

Slevin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Steigelmann manages to avoid it.
Steigelmann has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Steigelmann throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Steigelmann takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Steigelmann takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Slevin connects with a nice looking jab.


It looks like Gunnar Steigelmann has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Slevin walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Steigelmann checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Slevin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Steigelmann manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Steigelmann gets through Slevin's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Steigelmann pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Slevin throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Slevin tries to clinch but Steigelmann is having none of it.
Steigelmann shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Slevin eats them both and turns towards Steigelmann to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Steigelmann throws a leg kick but Slevin sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Slevin tests Steigelmann's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Slevin throws a hook but Steigelmann blocks it.

Steigelmann uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Slevin.

Slevin closes the distance and clinches.
Steigelmann digs a right hand underneath Slevin's ribcage. Slevin let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Steigelmann tries a knee to the head but Slevin blocks it.
Steigelmann lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Steigelmann works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Slevin takes an elbow to the temple.

Steigelmann is stalling here.

Slevin tries a body shot but Steigelmann blocks it.
Steigelmann lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Slevin backwards.
Steigelmann dodges an elbow strike from Slevin.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Slevin.
Slevin takes a knee right on the jaw!
Steigelmann misses with a body punch.
Steigelmann throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Slevin blocks it with crossed arms.
Steigelmann tries to work over Slevin's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Slevin throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Steigelmanns head.
Slevin on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Steigelmann makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Steigelmann landing knees to the body.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Slevin takes a knee to the side of the body.

Steigelmann throws an elbow that misses.
Steigelmann pushes off an throws an elbow but Slevin leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gunnar Steigelmann dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Steigelmann drops his shoulder and cracks Slevin with a huge uppercut! Slevin goes down! Can Steigelmann finish him?
Steigelmann slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Steigelmann has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Steigelmann wants to pass the guard but Slevin is keeping the position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Steigelmann controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Steigelmann steps into range and cracks Slevin with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Slevin flops backwards and Steigelmann dives into his guard looking to finish!


Slevin is rocked!
Steigelmann not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Oh Slevin is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Steigelmann has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Slevin seems to have got his legs back now.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Steigelmann tests Slevin's chin there with a solid looking shot.
The fighters circling - Steigelmann throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Slevin throws a body shot but no joy.
Steigelmann Throws a clean left jab. Steigelmann Twirls his body and connects with a Spinning Back Fist that connects flush with Slevin's chin! Slevin crumbles to the ground and Steigelmann follows up with some unanswered strikes. It's all over!! Nice standup skills displayed by Steigelmann!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Gunnar Steigelmann!

A very excited looking Gunnar Steigelmann made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
