PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tyrone James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and J Feratti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). J Feratti will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tyrone James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, J Feratti!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Feratti lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Feratti throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by James.

and James counters with a shoot takedown. Feratti fights it but they end up in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

James stands and steps away. Feratti gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Feratti throws a head kick but James moves out of range.

James closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Feratti to the mat! Feratti manages to get full guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
James postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Feratti is working an open guard so James takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

James has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

James stands and throws Feratti's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The referee asks James politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. James prefers to stall for the moment though.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
James works to advance to full mount. Feratti defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Feratti wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by James.
James sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

James has hold of Feratti's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Feratti manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

James lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

James is working for a guillotine from mount but Feratti frees his head quite easily.
Feratti takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Feratti wants to hold on but James pushes him away.

James wants to finish this one by submission but Feratti is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from James.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Feratti tries to stall but James uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

James throws a head kick that misses.
Feratti is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.
Feratti lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

James has taken the fight to the clinch.
James tries for a takedown but Feratti manages to get underhooks.
A short body shot lands from James as the two fighters clinch.
Feratti is breathing heavily.

James is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Feratti can't fight it off and eventually James manages to take the fight to the floor. Feratti looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
James's corner is telling him to maintain position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Feratti utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
James sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Feratti's guard.
James not landing any meaningful shots this time.

James is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Feratti defends it well.

James stands up from half guard.
A head kick misses from Feratti.

James moves into the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

James pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Feratti pulls out of a head kick attempt.
As Feratti looks to move away, James throws a big counter combo bu Feratti just gets out of the way.

and James counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
James passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Feratti!

James is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Feratti is surviving well by controlling James's body position as best he can.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
James looking to control and managing it successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tyrone James dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


James pulls out of a head kick attempt.

James darts in and clinches Feratti up against the cage.

James's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Feratti tries a head kick but it misses.
As Feratti backs away, James returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

James moves into the clinch.
James lands a hook to the side of the head.
James is trying to drag Feratti to the mat but Feratti just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
James is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Feratti can do to turn this around?
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Feratti prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tyrone James. That's going to take a lot out of him.
James tries to land knees in the clinch but Feratti avoids the damage to the body.
Feratti is trying to break the clinch but James has him pressed against the cage.
James lands with a short head shot on the inside.
James fails to pull guard.

James escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Feratti throws a sloppy head kick and James moves out of range easily.
James throws a quick counter kick to the body but Feratti avoids it.
James takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

James scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
James controlling from side mount.
James landing a few strikes.
Feratti takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
James controls the position.
James is working Feratti over with some ground and pound from side control.

James is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Feratti has escaped the position, nice work there.
James in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Feratti managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by James.

James is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Feratti is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Feratti trying to remain calm as James controls from the top position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

James shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well, if James is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Tyrone James showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for James, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
