Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between cj charles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thaigo Leites (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). charles comes to the cage accompanied by cant be stopped. Leites has chosen Sunday Bloody Sunday - U2 as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, cj charles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Thaigo Leites!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leites scores with a nice strike.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Leites swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Leites lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but charles circles away quickly and effectively.
charles misses with the combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Leites lands with a hook. charles tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

charles closes this distance looking for a takedown but Leites circles away.
charles throws a series of punches but Leites avoids them all with ease.

Leites darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Leites with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

charles wants to improve his position but Leites is controlling well.
charles knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Leites on the ground.

Leites is looking for a kimura but charles is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Leites to get the leverage.

Leites sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed charles's guard.

The fighters are battling for position here. charles manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

charles has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Leites is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for charles.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Leites is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. charles knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Leites is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, charles has escaped the position, nice work there.
Leites is looking to take a break and control but charles is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Leites is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but charles is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

charles is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Leites off and has taken his back!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

charles has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Leites has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Leites keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Leites scores with a one two! charles had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

and Leites decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in charles's guard.
Leites stands and throws charles's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Leites thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Leites is staying tight to charles's torso, preventing him from escaping.
charles tries to improve position but can't.
Leites is looking to take a break and control but charles is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Leites remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

charles is looking to regain half guard here but Leites keeps moving and retains side control.

Leites is working to tighten is grip on charles's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. charles has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Leites is really squeezing tight and eventually charles passes out! Leites breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
