Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hugo Moore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nathan Nelson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Nathan Nelson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Hugo Moore!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Santiago Holmes and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moore doesn't manage to clinch there - Nelson circles away.

Moore fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Nelson to the ground. Moore is now in Nelson's guard.

Nelson has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Moore is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Nelson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Moore is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Moore looking to slow down the pace here.
Moore is trying to pull guard but Nelson has him pressed against the cage.

Nelson decides to pull guard.
Nelson looking for a sweep. Not yet Nelson, not yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Moore throws a big right hand that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nelson has his foot on Moore's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Moore works his way back into a safe position though.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Moore gets a double leg takedown into Nelson's guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Nelson manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Moore breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Moore slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Nelson shoots in for a double leg but Moore sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Moore tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Nelson swivels and escapes.
Moore throws a combination. Nelson tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nelson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nelson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Moore jumps guard but Nelson stands there with Moore around his waist. Moore gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Nelson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Moore avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Moore throws a punch but it's blocked by Nelson.
Nelson wants to take the fight to the mat but Moore manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Moore can't get the takedown.
Moore wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Nelson has him pressed against the cage.

Nelson jumps into guard, dragging Moore to the mat.

Nelson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Moore can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That was a close round but I would say that Nathan Nelson will probably get the nod.
That's time! Nelson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Nelson moves into the clinch successfully.
Moore is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Nelson comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.


It looks like Hugo Moore has been cut.
Nelson landing knees to the head.
Moore is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Nelson to keep the fight standing.
Moore looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Nelson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Moore tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Nelson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Moore can't find room to land a body shot as Nelson controls the action.

Nelson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Moore uses from the top position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Nelson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Moore doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Moore manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Nelson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Moore manages to get himself to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nelson stays in close to Moore's body and controls the position.

Nelson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Moore can do to turn this around?

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Nelson advances to half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Nelson darts in and clinches Moore up against the cage.

Moore must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Nelson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Moore's guard.

Nelson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Moore, up you get!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Nelson dives in and grabs Moore's left leg, looking for a takedown. Moore pushes down on Nelson's head and hops out.

Nelson drives through and clinches with Moore against the cage.

Nelson ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Nelson no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Nelson throws a head kick but Moore moves out of range.

and Moore takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Nathan Nelson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nelson misses with a takedown attempt - Moore sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Moore thows a leg kick but Nelson checks it
and Nelson counters with a one-two to the body.
Nelson shoots for a double leg takedown but Moore sprawls well. He's pushed Nelson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Nelson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Moore has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Nelson manages to pull guard.
Nelson tries to strike from the bottom.
Nelson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Moore's guard.

Nelson stands and steps away. Moore gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Nelson takes the fight into the clinch.

Nelson jumps guard and drags Moore to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Moore looking to sit in guard and control but Nelson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Nelson stands up and waves to Moore to follow him.

Nelson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Moore to the mat! Moore manages to get full guard.
Nelson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Nelson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

And that's the end of the fight!
Nathan Nelson showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Nelson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
