The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alighieri misses with a hook.
Stakanu throws a series of punches but Alighieri avoids them all with ease.

Stakanu throws an overhand right that lands on Alighieri's shoulder, as Alighieri tries to avoid the shot.

Stakanu shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Alighieri pinned against the cage. Alighieri gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Stakanu cracks Alighieri with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stakanu paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Alighieri moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Alighieri closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Stakanu did well to prevent Alighieri getting side control.

Alighieri lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Stakanu wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Alighieri is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Stakanu defends it well.
Stakanu tries to roll over but Alighieri keeps him under control.

Stakanu is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Alighieri got a little sloppy there for a moment and Stakanu has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Alighieri has managed to get both his arms back between Stakanu's legs - danger averted.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Alighieri connects with a nice short shot to Stakanu's temple.

Alighieri is trying to work for a kimura but Stakanu is defending well.

Stakanu is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Alighieri has latched onto it... Big trouble! Alighieri pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Stakanu is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Alighieri!
