PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Phal Um (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pierre LePew (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Phal Um!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pierre LePew!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
LePew shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Um as he avoids it easily.
Um is looking to clinch but LePew is avoiding it.
LePew swats away the attempt to clinch by Um.

Um changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. LePew looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
LePew tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Um moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
LePew is looking for a sweep.
LePew manages to get back to half guard.

LePew actively working from the bottom here.
Um prevents LePew from improving his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Um perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
LePew wants to improve his position but Um is controlling well.

LePew looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Um prevents LePew from improving his position.

LePew looking for submissions off his back.
LePew trying to get back to full guard but Um takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
LePew tries to reverse the position but Um maintains control.
Um controlling his opponent.

LePew tries to get back to half guard but can't.
LePew is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

LePew keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Um controlling the pace for now.
LePew slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Um takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

LePew is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Um pulls his head out easily.
Um content to control rather than advance.

LePew looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

LePew looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Um takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

LePew is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Um pulls his head out easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
LePew is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
LePew is staying active underneath Um, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Phal Um dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Um is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Um throws a hook but LePew avoids it easily.
Um stuffs the takedown attempt from LePew. LePew gets slowly back to his feet.

LePew closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

LePew is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Um knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

LePew swings around for an armbar but Um sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into LePew's guard.

LePew looking for a guillotine here but Um defends easily.

LePew working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Um doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but LePew is tightening it up a little... Um has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Um reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Um taps out! nice BJJ there by LePew!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Pierre LePew!
