PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Eric Draven (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anton Newcombe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Draven comes to the cage accompanied by Dead Souls. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Draven throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Draven scores with a kick to the midsection.
Draven jabs Newcombe to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Newcombe tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Draven throws a head kick but Newcombe moves out of range.
Newcombe has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Draven.
Newcombe throws an off balance right hand
and Draven makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Newcombe doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Draven counters with a good low kick that Newcombe was not able to check.
Newcombe misses with a takedown attempt
and Draven counters with a good, hard body kick but Newcombe shrugs it off.
Newcombe looks winded!
A nice leg kick lands there from Draven.

Draven tries to keep at a distance but Newcombe has taken the fight into the clinch.
I was talking to Draven's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Newcombe is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Draven is defending well.
Eric Draven has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anton Newcombe.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Newcombe is looking to control Draven's arms but Draven gets an underhook and turns him. Now Newcombe has his back to the cage.
Draven slowing the pace effectively.
Newcombe drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Draven throws a punch but it's blocked by Newcombe.
Newcombe has Draven pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Draven manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Draven struggles to land a body shot inside as Newcombe controls his hands.
Draven lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Newcombe has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Draven seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Newcombe can turn it around.
Newcombe tries to stall but Draven uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Draven pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

and Draven counters with a body kick.
Newcombe steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Draven. That one must have hurt.
Newcombe misses with a leg kick
and Draven counters with a slapping leg kick.
Draven lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Draven throws a nice inside leg kick.
Draven goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

It looks like Anton Newcombe has been cut.
Newcombe sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Draven cracks Newcombe with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Draven throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Draven lands a right hook to the body.
Draven throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Draven lands with a thumping leg kick.
Eric Draven is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Draven lands a big head kick that sends Newcombe tumbling to the mat! Draven takes a step backwards and waves Newcombe back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Newcombe is rocked!
Newcombe switches off momentarily and Draven cracks him with a monster right hand! Newcombe topples backwards and makes a semi conscious attempt to cover up, as Draven dives in to land one more shot, before the referee has time to call the fight. What a finish by Draven!
