Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Donnell James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Jay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Donnell James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kevin Jay!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Jay misses with a head kick.
James stuffs the takedown.
A combination from James does no damage.

James closes the distance and pushes Jay back into the cage.
Jay is trying to break the clinch but James has him pressed against the cage.
James looking for a takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
James throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
James throws a knee to the head but misses.
Jay gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from James.

A quick uppercut on the inside from Jay.
Jay tries to pull guard but James forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Jay is trying to push James away but James has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Jay can't break the clinch.
Jay tries to circle away but James has him pinned against the cage.
Jay is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. James is defending well for now.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Jay tries to land a knee to the head but James blocks with his arms.
James has Jay pressed against the cage, preventing Jay from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Jay is trying to break free.

James escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A big right from Jay misses.
Some wild striking there from Jay.

Jay tries to sprawl but James drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Jay avoiding damage under a succession of punches from James.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jay tries to kick James off in order to stand up. James Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Jay is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
James has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Jay sneaks out the side door and pushes James away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

James gets caught flat footed, as Jay shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
James can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jay controls the pace.
James controls Jay momentarily but Jay frees himself.
James is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Jay tries to regain full guard. Instead though, James has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Jay is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
Jay is in all sorts of trouble here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
James tries to control but Jay wriggling away.
Jay is trying to escape the mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jay closes the distance and pushes James back into the cage.
James prevents Jay from breaking the clinch.
Jay tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. James smiles and moves away.

James closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

James cracks Jay with an elbow. That is naaassty.
James is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
James trying to control the action but Jay is working from the bottom.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Jay fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. James sprawls well initially but Jay persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
James is staying active underneath Jay, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
James wants to control but Jay is keeping busy.
Jay trying to control the action but James is working from the bottom.
James is holding on to half guard well.
Jay is trying to control the action in half guard but James is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
James trying to hold on to Jay's head to control him but Jay postures up.

Jay seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
James wants to control but Jay is keeping busy and won't allow it.
James is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
James is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Jay scores with a couple of nice shots.
Jay wants to take a breather but James is having none of it.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Jay in particular looking to stall.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Jay clinches up with James and pushes him back against the cage.

A nice right hand lands inside from Jay.
Jay gets underhooks to prevent James's takedown attempt.

Kevin Jay showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Jay is pulling down on James's head. It's preventing any offense from James, at least for the moment.

James wants to clinch up but Jay keeps it at a distance.
As James backs off Jay throws a huge counter combo but James manages to avoid it all.
Kevin Jay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jay shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

James is trying to keep Jay in close.
Jay slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

James had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jay defends it easily.
Jay is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Jay not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

James digs a right hand into Jay's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Jay's gas tank.

Kevin Jay comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jay has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
