PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ted Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Panameno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Panameno will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Ted Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Panameno!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Panameno throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Panameno thows a left - swing and a miss!
Jones closes this distance looking for a takedown but Panameno circles away.

Panameno scores a takedown into full mount!
Panameno controlling the position easily from mount.
Panameno trying to control but Jones is having none of it.
Jones keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Jones is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Panameno controlling from mount.
Panameno can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jones is looking to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Panameno looking to control and managing it successfully.

Despite being in the dominant position, John Panameno just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jones gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Jones tries for a takedown but Panameno circles away easily
and Panameno counters with a nice body kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Panameno swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Jones shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Panameno decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jones's guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ted Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Panameno stays in close to Jones's body and controls the position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jones is on top in guard.
Panameno tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Jones with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Jones tries to free his leg and advance position but Panameno is retaining full guard.
Jones won't allow Panameno to get back to his feet.
Jones connects with a couple of short punches.
Jones postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Panameno is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jones is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones wants to control from the top but Panameno keeps moving.
Panameno wants to get back to his feet but Jones is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Jones is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Jones misses with a takedown attempt
and Panameno counters with a nice uppercut.
Jones takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Jones fails with the takedown

and Panameno counters with a shoot takedown. Jones fights it but they end up in guard.
Panameno tries to stand but Jones is controlling from the bottom.

Panameno gets to his feet - Jones follows without any prompting.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jones looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
A jab lands there for Panameno.

Panameno closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Panameno lands in his opponent's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Panameno scoring with some ground and pound.
Jones trying to keep a closed guard but Panameno is proving a slippery customer.
Jones looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Panameno controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Panameno has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jones is proving hard to escape from.
Panameno trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Panameno dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Jones displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Panameno throws out the jab.
Jones avoids the body shot from Panameno.
Jones takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Panameno throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.


Jones is rocked!


It looks like Ted Jones has been cut.
Panameno lands with a right and another and another! Jones is in big trouble! Panameno lands again and this time it's lights out for Jones! A quality knockout there for Panameno.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). John Panameno!
