Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Koji Murosaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby Butcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Murosaki comes to the cage accompanied by Now We Are Free. Koji Murosaki has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Koji Murosaki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bobby Butcher!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Butcher drives through with a takedown into Murosaki's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Murosaki is controlling Butcher's posture.
Butcher wants to control from the top but Murosaki keeps moving.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Butcher working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Murosaki has a closed guard, preventing Butcher from standing up.
Murosaki pulls Butcher in to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Murosaki controls Butcher momentarily but Butcher frees himself.
Murosaki will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Murosaki fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Butcher avoids it really well and circles away.

Butcher closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Butcher lands in his opponent's guard.

Butcher throws a strike but Murosaki rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Butcher has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Murosaki can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Murosaki has gone for a leg lock! Butcher slips out almost immediately though and dives into Murosaki's guard.

Murosaki darts in looking for a takedown but Butcher gets double underhooks and turns Murosaki into the cage.

Butcher throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Murosaki tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Butcher is in Murosaki's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Butcher not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Butcher drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Murosaki manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Butcher has Murosaki in his guard.

Murosaki looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Murosaki is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Butcher is surviving well by controlling Murosaki's body position as best he can.

Butcher tries to hold on but Murosaki pushes him away.
Murosaki connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Butcher tries to lock up and control but Murosaki gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Murosaki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Butcher swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Butcher wants to stand but Murosaki is controlling the position.

Butcher looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Murosaki passes into half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Murosaki looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Butcher throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Butcher shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Murosaki shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Butcher's guard.

I was talking to Murosaki's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Butcher might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Murosaki haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
