Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Edgar Cano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Butch Hardgrove (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Edgar Cano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Butch Hardgrove!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Cano.
An elbow from Cano crashes against the mat.
Cano tries to advance to mount but can't.
Cano is staying tight to Hardgrove's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Hardgrove wants to get back to his feet but Cano drags him back down.

Cano working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Cano tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cano has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hardgrove wants to get back to his feet.
Cano remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Cano's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Edgar Cano just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Cano has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Hardgrove is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Cano swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Hardgrove is now in Cano's guard. A big mistake from Cano there, giving up the dominant position!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hardgrove wants to get up but he can't break Cano's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Hardgrove wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Hardgrove wants to get back to striking at distance but Cano won't allow it.

Hardgrove wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Cano has him pressed against the cage.
Hardgrove is looking to break free of the clinch but Cano has double underhooks.

Cano throws a sloppy head kick and Hardgrove moves out of range easily.
Cano shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hardgrove pinned against the cage. Hardgrove gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Edgar Cano. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hardgrove lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Hardgrove.

Butch Hardgrove has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Cano shoots in but Hardgrove avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Hardgrove tries to score with a low kick but Cano moves his leg out of the way.
No joy there for Hardgrove, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Cano darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Cano wants to control but Hardgrove is keeping him busy.

Cano wants to work for an arm triangle but Hardgrove is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Cano wants to advance to full mount but Hardgrove doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Edgar Cano.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cano, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
