PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Dux (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alberto Del Rio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Del Rio's choice of entrance music: Requiem for a dream. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 27 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alberto Del Rio!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Del Rio enables Dux to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Del Rio manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Dux content to stall in guard here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Del Rio takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Dux connects with a right hand. Del Rio shakes it off.
Dux pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Del Rio wants to counter with a clinch but Dux pushes him away.
Del Rio showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Dux.
Dux throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Del Rio stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Del Rio gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Dux.
Dux throws a head kick that looked like it stung.


It looks like Alberto Del Rio has been cut.
Dux lands with a nice body punch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Dux is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Del Rio's half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Dux slows the pace down in half guard.

Del Rio wants to get back to his feet.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Dux tests Del Rio's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Del Rio stands up from Dux's guard - Del Rio perhaps looking for a knockout.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Dux scores with a jab to the head.
Dux circles away from the clinch attempt
and Dux counters with a stiff right hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Dux dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Alberto Del Rio's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Dux connects with a single shot there.

Del Rio feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Dux has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Dux seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Del Rio gets to his feet. Dux looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Dux ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Dux no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Dux is pulling down on Del Rio's head. It's preventing any offense from Del Rio, at least for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Del Rio gets to his feet - Dux follows without any prompting.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Dux works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Dux is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Del Rio can do to turn this around?
Dux lands a head kick. Del Rio smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Dux lands a jab-cross combination.


Del Rio is rocked!
Del Rio bobbing and weaving nicely... He's ducked under a jab and ducks again but ooooooh! Dux comes at him with an uppercut from hell! Del Rio falls to the canvas, unconscious! This one is all over! Oh man, looking at the replay that was right on the button! Del Rio was out before he hit the floor!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). John Dux!
