Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Neil Todd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Demian Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Todd kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Church! T-Pain. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Todd misses with a head kick.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Maia.

Maia tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Todd can't do much from the bottom here.

Maia tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Maia has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Maia is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Todd has escaped the position, nice work there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Maia working the head and body with strikes.
Todd is not content to let Maia control the position.
Todd is letting Maia control him for a moment.
Todd stops Maia from passing to mount.

Maia thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Maia wants to control but Todd is keeping him busy.
Todd is trying to get back to half guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A punch combination from Todd misses.
Maia will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Maia looks for a takedown but Todd sprawls well.

Maia feints and as Todd raises his hands in defense, Maia changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Maia stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Todd swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Todd is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Maia is controlling him.
Maia slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
You can see the frustration on Todd's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Todd is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Todd is breathing heavily.
Todd is trying to control Maia's posture but Maia avoids it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Maia wants to lay and pray for a moment but Todd keeps working.
Todd manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Maia is refusing to be controlled, as Todd sits in half guard.
Maia tries to roll over but Todd keeps him under control.
Todd tries to pass the half guard into mount. Maia knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Maia closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Todd to the mat! Todd manages to get full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Demian Maia dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Maia gets the takedown into side control.
Todd pushes Maia away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Maia gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Maia throws an elbow but Todd slips to the side and avoids it well.

Maia is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Todd is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Todd is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Maia asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Maia is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Todd has escaped the position, nice work there.
Todd gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Maia jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Todd manages to avoid the submission attempt.
You can see the frustration on Todd's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Maia is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Todd looks calm but he's in trouble here. Maia gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Todd is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Maia lets go of the hold and Todd can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Demian Maia!
